Specializing in Elders and Their Caregivers Managing Illness and LGBTQIA+
Elders
Much reparative work can be done
at this time in life when one is free of work stress and as one approaches end of life. Other issues include loneliness, end of life, bereavement, and dealing with families.
Caregivers
Caregivers can be family, friends or hired caregivers. These roles may necessitate a new way of being in relationship, anticipatory bereavement and setting clear boundaries and expectations.
Managing Illness
It can be a confusing time when one is managing chronic and acute illness. Together we will work on communication with medical professionals, such as what questions to ask. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to make choices about their own care.
LGBTQIA+
LGBTQIA+ folks and their families may have unique challenges including coming out, homophobia and internalized homophobia. Other issues can be depression, anxiety, relationships, substance abuse and loss.
